Working with moon phases: a simple lunar intention calendar
Why the moon makes a good calendar
The moon completes a cycle roughly every 29.5 days (the synodic month). Many traditions, including the Hindu tithi calendar, organise observances around it. Whatever you believe about its influence, it gives you a regular, visible rhythm for reflection.
A four-phase routine
- New moon — set. Write one intention and one first step.
- Waxing — build. Do the step; note what helped.
- Full moon — review. Record what you did, separate from what happened.
- Waning — release. Drop what isn't working and simplify.
Keep facts and meaning apart
We calculate phases with a deterministic astronomical model, never AI. Your journal keeps "what I did" apart from "what I think it means", so reflection stays honest.
Get started
Open the moon page to see today's phase, illumination and the next new and full moon. Then make a sigil for your new-moon intention, or follow a guided journey.
